DRESS CODE BY CLASS

Platinum Performing Arts upholds a dress code for all students attending class to ensure all performing artists have the proper attire to safely complete the activities in class and rehearsals. As a training center for performing artists, the Dress Code also helps instill standards that are upheld in professional ensembles and companies.

This dress code can be flexible for students with disabilities. We also have access to ordering adaptive dancewear for a variety of needs- so feel free to contact us with any dress code questions!

Color Reference

Images to the right show one of the leotard options provided with the annual Registration Fee. When purchasing additional dance wear, styles and brands do not have to match exactly, but please try to color match as closely as you can.

Ages 4 - 6

Lavender

Black

Tiny Tot & Little Stars Ballet/Tap

Option 1

  • Ballet pink or skin toned tights

  • Violet/light purple leotard

  • Ballet pink or skin toned ballet shoes

  • Black tap shoes

  • Hair pulled up and out of face

Option 2

  • Black leggings, black yoga/jazz pants, or black dance joggers

  • White or black t-shirt or tank top

    • Platinum Performing Arts shirts are also acceptable)

  • Black ballet shoes

  • Black tap shoes

  • Hair pulled up or styled out of face

Beginning & Intermediate Ballet

Option 1

  • Ballet pink or skin toned tights

  • Grape/dark purple leotard

  • Ballet pink or skin toned ballet shoes

  • Black dance shorts and black or violet ballet skirts are permitted but not required

  • Hair in bun or styled out of face

Option 2

  • Black leggings, black yoga/jazz pants or black dance joggers

  • Black t-shirt or tank top

    • Platinum Performing Arts merch is also acceptable

  • Black ballet shoes

  • Hair pulled up or styled out of face

Advanced Ballet

Option 1

  • Ballet pink or skin toned tights

  • Black leotard

  • Ballet pink or skin toned ballet shoes

  • Black dance shorts and black, violet, purple, or white ballet skirts are permitted but not required

  • Hair in bun or styled out of face

Option 2

  • Black leggings, black yoga/jazz pants or black dance joggers

  • Black t-shirt or tank top

    • Platinum Performing Arts merch is also acceptable

  • Black ballet shoes

  • Hair pulled up or styled out of face

Jazz, Tap, Triple Threat Training, Mini Musicals, Rehearsals & Acting

  • Black bottoms

    • Dance shorts, dance joggers, basketball shorts, leggings, jazz/yoga pants, sweatpants, or athletic skorts

  • Solid black shirt OR leotard

    • Any style shirt/tshirt

    • Platinum Performing Arts merch is also approved

    • No crop/bra tops, except for Advanced levels

    • Leotard can be black or match the color according to age group (Violet/Light Purple for Ages 3-6, Grape/Dark Purple for Ages 7+, Black for Advanced level students)

  • Black jazz dance shoes

  • Triple Threat Training Level 2 & 3 and Tap Classes: Black tap shoes​

Hip Hop & Cheer Classes

  • Black or purple bottoms

    • Dance shorts, dance joggers, basketball shorts, leggings, jazz/yoga pants, sweatpants, or athletic skorts

  • Solid white, black, or purple shirt OR leotard

    • T-shirt or tank top

    • Platinum Performing Arts merch is also acceptable

    • No crop/bra tops, except if in an Intermediate or Advanced level

  • Black jazz dance shoes or black/white tennis shoes

    • If wearing tennis shoes, please make sure they are only used for dance. Shoes used in everyday life are damaging to our dance floor.

Grown Up & Me

  • Infants/toddlers should wear whatever is comfortable and moveable

  • Grown ups should also wear comfortable/moveable clothing and be prepared to either be barefoot or bring socks while on the dance floor​

Adult Classes

  • Dancers should wear ballet shoes & form fitting attire that is safe and comfortable to dance in

    • There is extreme flexibility in this so that adults have freedom to choose the attire that they like best

    • For exmaple:

      • Tights, leotard and a dance skirt​​

      • Leggings/joggers and a t-shirt

      • Athletic onsies or tennis dresses
